El Departamento de Ahorros y Préstamos Hipotecarios es una agencia del Estado de Texas y está sujeto a la supervisión y bajo la jurisdicción de la Comisión de Finanzas de Texas. El Departamento tiene dos áreas clave de responsabilidad regulatoria: la constitución, regulación y supervisión de la industria de ahorro del estado; y la concesión de licencias / registro y regulación de la industria hipotecaria del estado. Estas dos áreas de responsabilidad cubren la gran mayoría de los préstamos hipotecarios residenciales en Texas.
